The worst steak I have ever had: We were looking forward to Buck’s “signature” prime, dry aged strip steak. We didn’t mind a bit when the waitress told us that a steak ordered “medium” was cut into large pieces so it would cook properly without getting dried out. What we DID mind was getting instead what clearly were the cut-off tail ends of several strip steaks, rather than a steak of our own. The impressively large amount of “meat” on the plate turned out to be piece after piece of grist and fat, with virtually no discernable meat on it at all. This was clearly NOT just a well-marbled strip steak that was cut into pieces as the manager claimed; every strip steak, no matter how “prime, “ has good meat on it. We could not find a single piece of meat on the entire plate that was edible. Being “comped” for the steak (which was returned uneaten) and two glasses of wine is nice, but can’t begin to make up for a ruined dinner. By the way –how can restaurant that prides itself on fresh ingredients serves bottled iced tea instead of fresh?
