our comments

Local restaurant mogul Ashok Bajaj, who brought Washingtonians the Bombay Club and The Oval Room, opened this comfortable and stylish Cleveland Park spot. It quickly became a hangout for the many media types who live in the area, as well as thirtysomethings who trek across town to eat in funky style. The cooking is contemporary and generally well conceived and executed, using such fashionable ingredients as baby greens, diver scallops (individually selected and scooped up by divers) and portobello mushrooms, which end up in such dishes as a spinach salad with strawberries and Stilton cheese dressed with a red onion mixture. Follow up your salad with pan-roasted red grouper or veal scaloppini with buttermilk mashed potatoes. Desserts tend to be homey and American, and you may delight in an apple-pecan crunch with rum sauce and vanilla ice cream. The short wine list is well priced.
