Taste Of Morocco
our comments
Taste of Morocco is a hangout for embassy and Peace Corps types, plus anyone who wants a bit of culinary excitement over tea. Overstuffed cushions in bold floral prints; Moroccan collectibles, paintings, and prints; and Arab-bazaar music are appealing. The sensual aromas and flavors of the food alone will transport you to distant lands. Depending on the size of your group, start with a bastila, the classic Moroccan pastry dish, packed with chicken (or seafood), almonds, parsley and eggs and then scented with cinnamon. Those from this part of the world, of course, often cook fruit with meat, and one outstanding example here is the lamb with raisins and almonds accompanied by a big mound of turmeric-tinted rice. For another exotic experience order a pot of Moroccan tea, which tastes like liquid fragrant roses splashed with sugar and mint. Desserts include fruit or Moroccan pastry, but another pot of tea may suffice- April 2005
