Addis Ababa
our comments
Addis Ababa features a nightclub-like setting and outdoor rooftop eating upstairs and a more conventional dining room and bar downstairs. The food, authentic décor and reasonable prices make this a popular neighborhood destination. We loved the spongy injera bread used for wrapping up the very peppery doro wat, or chicken stew, and the yebeg tibs, a luscious lamb stew with an undercurrent of heat. You’ll also find a fine display of vegetarian dishes including stewed greens and spiced lentils. Slightly off the beaten track, this nonetheless competes well with the big-name eateries now in town. Desserts consist of baklava and carrot cake.- April 2005
