Afghan Grill
our comments
Since 9/11, Afghan food has become chic in Washington and new Afghan restaurants seem to open with regularity. And this entry into the Afghan food competition, like its cousin restaurants, offers a limited menu that showcases grilled foods, the most popular probably being the kofta kebab, made with chopped beef. Entrées include sautéed eggplant with yogurt and mint and seasoned lamb with saffron rice. Its intimate dining room crowds in tables and chairs for maximum seating, and management keeps the décor stark. Up a flight of stairs this unique restaurant may be easy to miss for pedestrians, but keep an eye out for the sign, and head upstairs for an authentic Afghan meal.- April 2005
