Ambrosia Restaurant
our comments
Never on Sunday will you be able to order Greek food before noontime here, by which hour the breakfast crowds have dispersed, and the kitchen crew can pay attention to such offerings as spanakopita, youvetsi and dolmades. We settled on the very ambitious Ambrosia lunch special that serves up enough food to stoke the Trojan forces, with dolmadakia and gyro garnished with tzatziki sauce. Regardless of which meal you enjoy in the no-frills old-timer, be sure to add on the house-made baklava, a huge, honey-drenched wedge of layered dough that is the best version of this dessert in the metro area. Breakfast fare is composed of the usual stuff: eggs, omelets, waffles and pancakes, so you won’t get much Greek influence here.- April 2005

This wonderful Greek restaurant combines excellent food with pleasant atmosphere and a very warm welcome from the owner/chef. Although I have personal favorites, I can honestly say that everything I've tasted at Ambrosia is superb. The portions are generous. The owner walks around the dining room greeting patrons, asking about the food and service and dispensing friendliness. The young wait staff knows its job and does it with friendliness and care. This is the best Greek restaurant in the Bethesda, Rockville area.
