Cafe Europa
our comments
It’s sleek and chic, this little Bethesda eatery, and lures in the young, trendy and all others who are looking for some decidedly European ambience served up alongside their Italian casual food. Because of its centrally located wood-burning brick oven, it would seem that pizzas are the main game here. The portobello pie is pleasing, but you’ll find several other traditional pies as well. Heartier fare includes the grilled salmon or jumbo crab cakes, neither of which seem particularly Italian. But the pasta dishes do, featuring ravioli stuffed with mushrooms and cheese tortellini with rock shrimp and spinach. The décor looks like a mini-gallery for avant-garde artworks.- April 2005
